Camryn’s hair, makeup, outfits…all absolutely gorgeous!  Everything about our shoot was beautiful, except for the weather.  We barely got out of our cars at our original location, when it started to rain.  People were literally running off the beach toward their cars.  Not good.  We decided to move to a different location, which gave us 10 minutes before the rain hit us there too.  We started under the pier, hoping it would stop raining. Poor Camryn posed against pillars with cringe-worthy graffiti on them (too awful to post…I felt embarrassed even reading the graffiti during our shoot).  The rain did not subside, so we decided to just shoot in the rain.  It was like we were shooting with a mist machine blowing, but it was Mother Nature’s machine (which we couldn’t shut off).  Camryn was amazing, especially considering the wind was whipping in her face, and the rain was dripping off her nose.  So fierce.  Thank you, Mom and Camryn, for being so flexible!!!  It was great seeing you both again!  Click HERE to see our last shoot with Camryn and her family (back in 2011!).  Here’s your sneak peek:

Oh, and a quick shout out to my husband for trying to keep us dry!  🙂

P.S.  We are now scheduling for holiday shoots.  Please contact me if you are interested in scheduling a shoot with us for your holiday cards.  Shoot slots are limited (in particular, the outdoor afternoon weekend slots), and are scheduled on a first-come first-serve basis.  We will be scheduling shoots through the end of October, and will use November for rain-out, sick client make up shoots only.

Our original shoot day was scheduled for the day of hurricane Darby.  Obviously, we had to reschedule…the beach is not a place to be during a hurricane 🙁  The day that we rescheduled for was also another overcast, hazy day…but at least it wasn’t raining.  I had my doubts as we sat on the beach prior to our shoot.  It started drizzling, and the wind started picking up.  We held our breath as we started our shoot.  The skies remained overcast and grey, but the wind died down, and it stopped drizzling.  Phew!  Luke and Noah had the cutest little smiles.  Luke had a shy, sweet little smile. He patiently waited for his individual photos at the beginning of the shoot, flashing us his heartwarming smile. Noah was bolder. He gave us smiles with twinkling, mischievous eyes.  He was on the move, and couldn’t wait to hit the water.  His biggest smiles were during action shots; he was thoroughly enjoying himself!  Mom and Dad, thanks for being so flexible with the shoot rescheduling. The skies may not have been blue, but the boys’s smiles lit up our photos.  Who needs the sun anyway?!  Here’s your sneak peek:

Little Kai was the perfect age for his newborn shoot.  We try to get our shoots done within the first 2 weeks of life (ideally, between days 7-10), and he fell into that window.  We were very fortunate, because his eyes were wide open for the family shots, but he slept peacefully for our individual shots.  Mom requested for a “natural/rustic” type of shoot, so we used a lot of wood and vintage props.  I’ve been waiting to use our vintage scale for years!  Kai looked so comfy in it.  I absolutely loved his older sisters, Jadelyn and Taylor!  They made our family and sibling photos so easy and fun  🙂  Thanks for braving the rain, Mom and Dad…it was so great to meet all of you!  Here’s your sneak peek:

It’s Keiso’s turn!  We took photos of Keiso’s older brothers (Ken [10] and Kou [8]) for their Shichi-Go-San (a traditional rite of passage in Japan for 5-year old boys [and 3 and 7 year old girls]). Click HERE to see Kou’s shoot, and HERE to see Ken’s shoot). Keiso was already 6, but we decided to do his shoot anyway  🙂  Keiso gave us the cutest little smiles, elicited with the help of a “dance” performed by his older brothers.  Being the baby of the family, his older brothers were eager to help us make their baby brother smile…and they were quite effective!  Just look at all of those smiles.  Thank you, Ken, Kou and Keiso, for taking instructions so well!  It was so much fun seeing you all again 🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

Zayd and Daxx have a new baby sister!  Meet the lovely Qynn  🙂  Like her brothers (click here for Daxx’s newborn shoot, and here for Zayd’s one year shoot). She arrived to our studio with a head full of thick dark hair and a cute little smile for her sibling photo.  At 20 days old, Qynn was one of our older newborns. So glad we were able to schedule you in for your shoot, Qynn!  Hope brother’s baseball game went well too  🙂  Mom wanted a shot with the “flower ring”, thanks for bringing in the flowers, Mom and Dad (I know that meant you had to wake up even earlier to buy them!).  Welcome to the world, sweetie!!!  Here’s your sneak peek:

It’s been almost a year since we did Parker’s newborn shoot (click HERE to see his newborn shoot), and boy did he grow!  He’s sitting up, crawling and smiling…just look at that face; I just want to pinch his little cheeks!  Parker’s birthday party theme is “Super Heroes”, so Mom wanted some “Super Parker” pics.  Grandma sewed that cute cape, so sweet  🙂  We finally got to use the surfboard that we originally ordered for Parker’s newborn shoot (it arrived too late, so we weren’t able to use it at the time).  He looks like he’s having so much fun on it.  Adorable!  Mom also baked a cake for a “cake smash” photo.  It’s been a while since we did a cake smash shoot! Parker was a little cautious at first, and sat staring at his cake.  With a little encouragement, he tasted it (and seemed to like it). He’s such a little cutie  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

Meet sweet little Kaci. She had some of the clearest, brightest eyes we’ve ever seen!  She was up and wanted to see the world  🙂  I loved her signature hair, it just made her look absolutely adorable.  Mom and Dad were so patient and easy to work with…Kaci, you are the luckiest angel, ever!  Thanks for coming out to see us and being so patient with your sneak peek (we’ve been having problems with our internet service over the past week, and I’m trying to get this post up before we lose internet again).  Looking forward to our next shoot with you, Kaci!!!  See you in in 6 months  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

It was a beautiful afternoon to have a beach photo shoot. The sunlight was gorgeous, the ocean was calm, and we had the privilege of photographing an absolutely amazing family! What better way to spend your vacation days, than to spend it on a beach covered with sparkling white sand and palm trees in the background?  Felix (4) and Nora (6) were incredibly delightful…so happy to be at the beach, spending time with their parents.  Nora’s beautiful hair blew gracefully in the wind, and looked positively ethereal.  She loved giving me “Nora” poses (I didn’t have to ask her to pose for me at all…what you see is all Nora)!  She’s a natural model  🙂  Felix had the cutest smile.  His face lit up every single time he smiled. I just wanted to scoop him up and hug him.  It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to shoot “couples” photos, so when Mom and Dad agreed to pose for me, I was thrilled!  Such a stunning couple, so happy and in love.  Thank you, W Family, for spending your afternoon with us!  Obviously, I had a hard time narrowing down your photos for your sneak peek…that’s OK, hopefully, it will help you relive your vacation  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

Meet little Evan! He won the award for “most hats” in 2016 (so far). Our little guy was perfectly content to lie there peacefully, as we plopped hat after hat on his head.  He was a dream to work with…and so were his parents.  Evan slept like an angel, and let us pose his little hands in the cutest positions  🙂  He even gave us a couple of smiles!  What a little cutie!!!  Thanks, Mom and Dad, for opting for the Baby First year package.  We can’t wait to see Evan at his next shoot!  Here’s your sneak peek:

We’ve been on a little break…preparing for potential knee surgery for Edson (which luckily, didn’t have to happen), Lu’au prep (my graduating class was hosting my school’s annual Lu’au this year), and a couple of commercial projects (more on this a bit later).  What better way to dive back in, than to start off with a newborn shoot!  Meet Lacey…beautiful in every way.  She had shiny black hair, and rose colored lips.  She did amazingly well with two of our tougher props (the hot air balloon and the carriage), and in general, made me remember why I love photographing newborns  🙂  Thank you, Mom and Dad, for driving out to meet us…I know it was a far drive, but it gave us the opportunity to meet you all–and for that, we are so very grateful!  It was an honor working with Lacey, congratulations again!!!  Here’s your sneak peek:
