Sometimes I forget how creative little minds can be.  Adri and Brynne were so eager to start their photo shoot, and they were particularly interested in crossing the stream so they could “pose in the trees”.  I love how they constantly asked, “How about here?”  “I could hold the flower like this, and you could take a photo of me.”  We’ve photographed these sisters since they were newborns, and I love seeing them every year in their matching outfits.  Click HERE to see their 2017 shoot. Their dresses were gorgeous (that’s one of my favorite colors), and they were good sports about wearing their shoes on the VERY soft stream bank.  Loved all the hugging photos. I think you are the most affection sisters, and I hope you stay that way forever!  Thanks again for another great year, Mom and Dad!  It was great seeing you all again.  Here’s your sneak peek:

It’s our 10 year anniversary with the T Family!  We’ve been shooting this family for a decade already…where has the time gone?  It’s been so long, that we no longer list Jansen’s age anymore on the blog post!!!  Jansen, Jalen (17), Jorel (13) & Jasper (5)…Jalen, you are next to have the numbers disappear from the end of your name.  Since that time, my little ham (Jorel) has become a teenager, and Jasper has graced our presence.  Click here to see their 2017 shoot.  I always love the family dynamics, and since Jasper entered their lives, it’s been a joy to see them welcome their little brother wholeheartedly.  Jasper has always liked the water.  I remember seeing one of his biggest smiles in a social media pic.  He was sitting in a bucket of water, and his smile was HUGE!  Fast-forward a couple of years, and his love for water has only grown stronger.  So many smiles from the little man as he waded in the ocean!  I initially thought that we were going to have to reschedule our shoot, but the rain stayed away until the very end of our shoot.  We even had a rainbow in the distance  🙂  Mom and Dad, as always, it was great seeing all of you again this year.  Happy 10th anniversary to us!  Happy belated birthday to Jansen too.  Here’s your sneak peek:

Happy Birthday, Olivia!!!  What better way to spend your very special day, than to pose for your 1-year old photo shoot  😉  It was so great seeing you and your big brother, Jonny again!  Click HERE for Jonny’s last shoot with us.  Olivia, you had such adorable outfits…and the cutest little “1-year old” party hat, ever!  I love that you seemed to like coming in close to my camera lens (I think those are some of my favorite photos!).  Jonny, how did you grown up so quickly?!  The last time we saw you, I don’t think you were walking yet.  This time around, we loved watching you running around in your Minion crocs (how cute are those!).  You also loved the camera, running from spot to spot, and posing for me (you actually called me over to take photos of you!).  We had so much fun with both of you (and your Mom and Dad, of course)!  Olivia, thank you for celebrating your day with us!  Here’s your sneak peek:

The smiles just kept on coming…and we loved it!  Andi literally smiled at everything  🙂  She smiled with every pose, and with all of our props.  She had such an amazing demeanor, she must take after her mom and dad!  Andi had the cutest outfits as well (I especially loved that floral jumpsuit).  Thanks for bringing in the bears, Mom and Dad, you definitely have your bear photos to choose from.  You also have a lot of smiles in your proofing gallery, because your little one gave us so many!!!  Thanks for sharing little Andi (and her contagious smile) with us!  Here’s your sneak peek:

Sweet smiles…that’s how I would describe this wonderful brother-sister duo  🙂  Brendan and April both chose their own poses and locations for their individual shots.  I loved their choices (and their desire to participate in our shoot).  Little April said that she “had a lot of practice taking photos”.  How cute is that?!  Brendan and April, thank you for being so easy to work with!  Sometimes beach shoots can be distracting. Most kids gravitate straight to the shoreline, but these two were so incredibly patient.  They happily posed for me on logs and in bushes, until the sun went down enough to take their beach photos.  It was great meeting all of you, Mom and Dad!  You have two amazing kiddos!  Here’s your sneak peek:

Sometimes, you just meet a child that doesn’t need any direction.  Their faces and bodies seem to fall into place naturally. We’ve know Sophie for 9 years, and every year, I struggle to unearth her secret.  What is she doing?  How does she get that dreamy look in her eyes?  Every time Sophie is in front of my camera, it’s like I’m taking a quiet little peak into Sophie’s world. It’s almost as if she’s unaware of the camera, even when she’s staring directly into my lens.  I still have yet to discover what she is doing…but whatever it is, it works year after year.  Soph, you are beautiful inside and out.  I love your shy and gentle demeanor, and your willingness to share your world with us every year.  Mom and Dad, it’s always wonderful to see you all.  Sophie will always be our special little one, no matter how old she is  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

It’s been awhile since I last saw Mom’s family (I think the last time may have been Tyler’s first birthday party!).  Thanks for scheduling with us so early, Mom…you are always planning two steps ahead! Sometimes it’s really hard to coordinate schedules for larger family shoots, but luck was with us this time around!  The weather was perfect, and the timing worked out for us all.  Hopefully, we finished in time for Mom and Dad to make the football game 😉  Can’t believe how much Tyler and Emi have grown over the past year!  It was great seeing you all again this year (click HERE for our 2017 shoot)!  Hope you all enjoyed your family time together.  Here’s your sneak peek:

She was just precious!  Mari had a sparkle in her eye, and a smile that lit up her entire face.  Those eyes…so soulful and expressive.  She was also a little trouper.  Mom said that she wasn’t feeling well that day.  If I remember correctly, I think she had a fever, but still mustered up smiles and laughs for us (believe me, when I have a fever, I’m in no mood to smile or laugh for anyone).  Mari obviously had more than enough love for everyone in her family. She loved looking at their faces (probably because everyone smiled back at her…how could you not smile at that cutie?).  Thanks for inviting us into your family that afternoon, Mom and Dad!  We had a wonderful time  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

Happy belated anniversary Mr. and Mrs. S!  We were so honored to finally meet you in person (my parents have such wonderful things to say about the two of you…)!  K, you have a gorgeous house, and an even more amazing family!  Thank you for inviting us into your home for a warm and intimate shoot with your family.  I loved the overall plan for spontaneity, coupled with a few more “formal” family photos (everyone always wants at least one photo where everyone is looking at the camera).  I’ve always loved color, and I didn’t realize until I was processing your images, how cheerful your couch photos looked with the infusion so many brightly colored accents.  I felt like the smaller accent pillows, magazines and block game really added some vibrancy…which was so appropriate for the kid photos!  Our shoot was filled with laughter and energy, and finished off with a family dinner at dusk.  Thank you again for your hospitality…it was such a pleasure meeting you all!  I mixed some of the “formal” shots with some of the more candid/blooper shots in your sneak peek 🙂

Our client family was back home visiting, and we carefully planned our shoot months before the actual date.  We had great weather earlier that week, so I didn’t think we were going to have a problem at all…but as I started driving to our shoot location, it started to rain…hard.  As I climbed that steep road, it got to the point where I couldn’t even see the street anymore, because the rain was pelting my windshield.  Ugh.  Definitely no chance of doing our shoot there  🙁  I have to thank our families for being so flexible.  Out-of-town shoots are hard to schedule and coordinate to begin with, and next to impossible to reschedule (we know families are here for a vacation, not to continuously head out to photo shoots  😉  ).  It wasn’t raining as hard when I got back down to the bottom of the hill, but the ground was still wet, so our locations were still limited…especially with little ones.  We don’t want them sitting and walking in mud!  We ended up at a beach…this beach was windy (as it typically is), but at least it wasn’t actively raining, and the ground wasn’t saturated.

The girls did such a great job, especially considering they were riding around in the car for awhile before our shoot.  Just look at those cute smiles! Even our furry friend participated (which can sometimes be difficult in the midst of multiple distractions).  All in all, I’m so glad that our shoot worked out!  Thanks again for being so patient and flexible…it was great meeting all of you!!!  Here’s your sneak peek:
