Baby Kayden was born 6 weeks premature, and Mom contacted me as soon as Kayden got home from her slightly prolonged hospital stay. Given her true estimated due date, we scheduled Kayden for her shoot at the “7-day” mark (7 days after her estimated due date, but a good 49 days out from her actual birthdate). The timing worked out PERFECTLY, and Kayden truly was the size of a newborn. Not only was she so tiny and precious, she had a beautiful “hair halo”…just like an angel.  She also had amazing skin, so smooth and clear. Kayden was sleepy, and so ready for her shoot (thanks Mom and Dad for following our suggestions on how to prepare for a newborn shoot). Kayden’s big brother, Tyler, wanted to share his Transformers with the world! He was a sweet little guy and a wonderful big brother!!! Kayden, you are a beautiful and strong girl…just like your Mommy (one of the strongest and bravest women we’ve had the pleasure of meeting)!  Mom and Dad, thanks so much for driving all the way out here to meet us…we know it was an incredibly far drive for all of you! We were honored to do your shoot  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

Has it been six months already?!  Click HERE to see Roman’s newborn shoot. Little Roman went from a snuggly newborn all wrapped up in a stretchy brown wrap, to an almost 7-month boy that was full of smiles and action! Same chocolate brown eyes, only on a big boy’s body. Love that Mom and Dad brought back his painting…can’t wait for our next shoot! Such a great way to chart his growth over this first year 🙂  Big brother, Mikey, did an absolutely amazing job with his little bro.  Those brother shots were some of my favorite sibling shots to date!  Mikey was so tolerant of me accidentally calling his baby brother “Mi-Roman” (a hybrid of “Mikey” and “Roman”). Poor boys! I’m so used to having Mikey in front of my camera, that his name just seemed to blurt out of my mouth throughout the shoot. Thanks for a great shoot, Mom and Dad, loved spending the afternoon with your boys!  Here’s your sneak peek:

Little Miesha wasn’t ready to meet the world…she was perfectly happy staying in mom’s tummy. What a life! Baby Miesha was a week overdue, and it was time for her to make her grand entrance.  We scheduled her newborn shoot based off of her expected due date. The week of her shoot, Mom shot me an email to let me know that she hadn’t given birth yet.  I was ready to reschedule our shoot, but mom made a miraculous recovery after delivering. Somehow she managed to keep our scheduled shoot date.  Really?!  Look at how great mom looks just days after giving birth…absolutely amazing!  I wish I knew her secret. I was a hot mess for literally an month after Bradley was born.  Miesha was equally amazing.  For a barely 4-day old baby, she was incredibly alert. Her eyes would focus for brief moments, and boy was she strong! I’d swear she was almost 2 weeks old (maybe it was that extra week incubating in Mom’s tummy).  Thank you, Mom and Dad, for sharing your wonderful family with us! I hope you are all enjoying your first few weeks with your little angel  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

It was a crazy, hot day. I swear I could literally see steam rising from our sidewalks, and our AC still wasn’t working (thank goodness, it was finally fixed yesterday afternoon).  It was so muggy that I was worried that we wouldn’t have any smiles for our shoot with Kara and Drew.  Thankfully, they proved me wrong  🙂  In fact, Kara and Drew were some of the happiest siblings we’ve had the honor of shooting.  Both kiddos took direction well, and never stopped smiling for us.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!  Mom and Dad, thanks for enduring the unbearable heat (and Mom, thanks for the link to those amazing slippers!). Kara, every time I see a gummi bear, I will think of you  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

It’s the middle of summer, and boy is it hot and humid! We’ve been plagued with frequent power and cable/WIFI outages for the past couple of weeks. Our air conditioner, pool pump and refrigerator all decided to give up on us, and I even accidentally used up all of our phone plan’s data in one day (since our cable/WIFI went out, I switched to data service to email a client, and forgot to switch it back to WIFI before I participated in a photography webcast). We needed something to brighten up our situation…and Baby Zara was our little angel  🙂  Zara had the most incredible eyelashes…ever!  They were so thick and long, they seemed to go on for days.  She had two amazing sisters, Remy and Issa. If Zara’s personality is anything like her siblings, Mom and Dad have to be the most fortunate parents on the face of the Earth!  Of course, children are often a reflection of their parents…so obviously this family is just amazing.  Zara slept like a champ, and allowed us to do both natural and prop poses (the best of both worlds, right?).  Thank you, Mom and Dad, for driving out to meet us.  It was an absolute pleasure working with all of you.  Here’s your sneak peek:

We’ve had so many wonderful word-of-mouth referrals over the past several years.  So thankful to Sammie (can’t believe we did her Senior portrait shoot over 5 years ago!)  for referring Oliver and Ireland’s amazing family to us! I started off this child shoot with little Oliver, and the entire time I photographed him, two words continuously ran through my mind.  PURE. JOY.  I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a happier little boy.  Ollie was incredibly happy with every single prop and in every single pose. Just look at that smile! We did some sibling shots, then I focused on baby Ireland.  Both she and Ollie had amazing eyes…piercing blue and grey. Ireland was a little too old for a newborn shoot, but 6 weeks is a great time to capture eye-open shots.  She batted her long lashes at me, and remained so calm throughout the shoot.  Ollie and Ireland definitely got Mom and Dad’s calm and gentle demeanor! Thanks for driving out to meet me, it was wonderful working with all of you.  Here’s your sneak peek:

I can’t believe how time has flown by!  The last time I saw saw Jake and Jacie, they were still crawling…and now they were definitely on the run  🙂  (Click HERE and HERE for Jake and Jacie’s previous sessions.)  Jake was immediately curious.  He wanted to explore the trees, and loved running as fast as he could across the grass. Jacie was a little more cautious at the beginning, preferring to pick flowers and contemplate the situation. After a small collision on the grassy field (which Jacie thought was hilarious), Jacie became Edson’s best friend.  She didn’t want to let him go, and gave us (OK, maybe they were actually for Edson) some of her biggest smiles.  Loved seeing these little cuties again!  Here’s your sneak peek:

Mom still can’t believes that her little girl is officially a one-year old. It’s been so great seeing Emi grow over the past year…from a newborn to a one year old girl that is ready to be on the move. Emi’s favorite game is to offer you something she has in her hand, then ask for it back.  This kept her busy throughout our park shoot.  A few weeks later, Emi had her birthday party. It was cherry blossom themed, complete with a beautiful birthday cake. Big brother, Caden, was there to help blow out her candles (he eagerly awaited his chance to dig his fork into that cake!). Happy Birthday, little Em! Here’s your sneak peek:

The day started off with blue skies, but the hour before the shoot yielded grey skies. Raindrops hit our windshield as we neared the beach. My heart sank because I knew that this shoot took quite a bit of work to organize (multi-family shoots with multiple children are always difficult to coordinate, and I know our clients worked incredibly hard to coordinate their schedules). The families were spread across the island, so unless it absolutely stormed, our shoot was on! We started off with drizzling and grey skies. Low and behold, halfway through the shoot, blue skies emerged! The boys seemed to have a blast playing in the sand and finding “treasures” on the beach. I loved the giggles and silly poses  🙂  Thank you for driving all the way out to meet us. I know some of you had a VERY long drive. It was great to meet all of you!  Bradley says, “Hi!” to you, Mrs. T  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

The best part of being an older sister, is that I get to share the smiles and joy that my nephew and niece have to share with us. I love seeing their innocent little faces, and sweet little smiles (granted, some of those smiles were obtained via bribes…shhhh!).  This past week, I did a shoot with “Little Ems”.  It happened to be an 11-month shoot. I took a look back at her 7-month photos, and couldn’t help but see how much she’s grown in just a few months. (Click HERE to see Emi’s newborn photo shoot.) I decided to post her 7-month photos first, just so I could reference it in her upcoming 11-month old post (later this week).  Her first birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, and I know how Mom feels. I warned her that the photos from our 7-month old shoot will be bittersweet. Oh, Little Ems, we love your smile and all of that hair!  Kor and Janell, here’s your sneak peek…more of Ems to come in about a week:
