I should have known that Alex had previous modeling experience!  She was a natural in front of the camera with a beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye.  Her makeup was gorgeous and flawless…and her hair looked amazing!  Makeup artist, Dustin (Owner and Stylist of Texture Salon Hawaii) styled her hair and applied her makeup on site. Loved her look!!!  Beautiful kimono was from Masako Formals Hawaii.  Huge thank you to our mutual friends, M and her family. They graciously allowed us to use their house for the shoot preparation and shoot.  She didn’t even blink an eye when I tromped into her house with my backdrop stands and studio lights.  M also styled Alex’s wardrobe before, during and after the shoot.  I always say that she is “my friend that knows everything”…because she really does!  So fortunate to have your cultural expertise! Alex, you were stunning.  You were both humble and relaxed in front of the camera.   Thank you, Alex, for being such a strong and confident woman…and a special thanks to mom for being so easy to work with!  Such a great Mom/Daughter team!  Here’s your sneak peek:

No pressure Mom, but I know that people look forward to seeing your “themed” shoots every year.  Mom always plans shoots that incorporate props and outfits…and her family is all in  🙂  Click HERE to see their 2018 shoot.  This year was no exception.  We had a pajama-themed shoot that was SO adorable.  We also did some shots on the beach (it was a bright and windy afternoon, so the kids did a great job of trying to stay in a shaded areas to avoid that harsh lighting).  Emma, how can you be 9 already?!  It seems like we were just doing your newborn shoot.  Zoey, same adorable smile every year  🙂  Special thanks to the two “special elves” that helped us with the room set up.  You are amazing, and are so fortunate to have you with us with Emma and Zoey’s shoots!  Mom and Dad, it was great seeing you all again this year!!!  Thanks for always putting so much effort into your shoots.  Here’s your sneak peek:

Happy belated birthday, little Olivia!  I will always remember Olivia’s birthday, because it’s so close to the holidays.  What perfect timing for a holiday/birthday shoot  🙂  Click HERE for their 2018 shoot.  She was simply adorable in her pink dress and shoes. Jonny was a bundle of smiles and poses.  Every year, he gives us the absolutely cutest poses.  He was made for the camera (or does he have a lot of practice smiling for photos?).  This brother/sister duo had so much fun together!  I loved the giggles, and I especially loved how Olivia copied EVERYTHING that her big brother did.  You have a beautiful family, Mom and Dad!  I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.  Here’s your sneak peek:

Another one of our favorite families!  Every year, I look forward to seeing Adri and Brynne in their cute outfits.  Click HERE to see their 2018 photo shoot.  I remember the poofy little dresses and shiny shoes…now the girls are so grown up!  This year they were exuding kiddie elegance. I love their family outfit color coordination…thanks, Mom and Dad!  It was a great afternoon with beautiful lighting (we were blessed with a couple of these this year!).  The sister shots always melt my heart and make me wish I had a sister.  Adri and Brynne, you rocked the dance/gymnastics moves!  You will always be one of our most treasured families.  Here’s your sneak peek:

Our shoot definitely did not start off as planned.  They completely shut down the road in both directions, so we were unable to reach our destination.  After a flurry of phone calls and texts (don’t worry, Edson was driving), we decided on an alternate location.  Luckily, we found an even better spot!  The lighting was beautiful, and we didn’t have to fight with anyone for our shots (so I don’t have to Photoshop out  people from the background of their photos!).  Alex and Matty were amazing!  Click HERE for their 2018 shoot.  They seemed to be having fun running around, and they seemed to shine in the afternoon light.  Thanks for being so patient and flexible, Mom and Dad!  It actually worked in our favor  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

Mila was a bundle of adorable personality!  She was so happy and friendly, and skipped from tree to tree in excitement.  I don’t think I ever asked Mila to pose for me, I just followed her around the forest and took photos of her when she smiled at me.  The lighting was beautiful that afternoon, and it just emphasized her joy.  DJ (her furry brother) also did an amazing job, despite the numerous distractions.  I’ll post her 2018 photo shoot in a future post so you can see how much she’s grown over the past year.  Same adorable smile, just a year older!  In the meantime, you can click HERE for her 2017 photo shoot with us.  Mom and Dad, it was another fun and beautiful photo shoot with all of you.  Thanks for always being so easy to work with…we love you!  Here’s your sneak peek:

It was only a couple of months since her newborn shoot (click HERE to see E’s newborn shoot), and she was already sitting up.  Not many babies are able to prop themselves into a sitting position, much less hold themselves up at this age.  Mom said she was practicing for her shoot, and we think that the practicing really worked!  We also met E’s furry little brother.  Pet/child photo shoots are notoriously difficult.  Trying to get dogs to sit still next to their new younger sibling and look at us is often times quite difficult…but these two handled it extremely well!  It was great seeing you again, Mom.  Can’t believe how much little E has grown in just a couple of months!  Such a cutie  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

We had an incredible downpour the evening before our original scheduled shoot date.  We had crazy weather last month!  Hot, humid, rainy…every single day.  Fortunately, the weather on our reschedule date was much better, thank goodness!  Loved the energy that Joshua, Luke and Kensie brought to our session.  Everyone participated, and did a great job with their individual, sibling and family shots…loved the patience!  Thanks for a great photo shoot, Mom and Dad!  It was a pleasure meeting you and your amazing family  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:

It was a shoot full of smiles and fun  🙂  We’ve had the pleasure of seeing Claire a couple of times this year for solo shoots (click HERE to see her most recent shoot with us), but this was the first this year that we saw all of the cousins together!  Click HERE to see their previous shoot with us.  They have all grown so much since the last time we saw them.  Grandma and Grandpa were also there for a “Grandparent-Grandchild” photo…these are always fun to look at over the years.  Kids go from being carried by their grandparents, to sitting in their laps, to standing next to/behind them in future shoots.  Loved seeing the groupings:  individual families, cousins, siblings, grandparent-grandchildren.  The kids were troopers throughout the entire shoot (it can be hard for younger children to sustain attention during a larger family shoot with multiple family units).  Lots of smiles, and a spectacular view at the end of the shoot.

It was great seeing you all again this year!  Thanks for coordinating and meeting us for our shoot.  Here’s your sneak peek:

I love photographing kids that like to have their photos taken  🙂  The spontaneity and smiles make our shoots so much fun.  Brendan and April…we loved the eagerness and sweet smiles!  Click HERE to see their 2018 shoot.  We had perfect weather for our shoot.  The lighting started off on the brighter side, but as the shoot progressed, it softened.  Brendan and April were such good sports about the ground being slightly damp.  April, the boots still looked fabulous 😉  I love this age, still innocent and willing to hold hands…hope these memories last a lifetime.  Time flies by too quickly, and the next thing you know, they will be taking their high school senior portrait photos. SIGH.  It was great seeing you all again, Mom and Dad!  Thanks for a wonderful shoot. Here’s your sneak peek:
