Yet another shoot affected by our bout of horrible weather. Poor Johnny, thanks for being so flexible with your schedule (it was our third attempt at conducting our shoot).  The conditions weren’t great, but at least it wasn’t raining.  At least the beach was relatively empty (not exactly beach weather).  Your choice of outfit was perfect for the shoot (and the weather conditions)!  So sorry for the less than optimal beach weather, but it was so nice to finally meet you in person.  We wish you the best of luck post-graduation!!!  Here is your sneak peek:

Unfortunately, this was the start of several weeks of bad weather for our state.  The skies were grey, but the water was still blue (this would change in some of our future shoots).  The wind was coming off the ocean, but we were lucky enough to avoid the rain.  I’m actually glad we didn’t reschedule our shoot, because the weather only got worse as the weeks progressed  🙁

I couldn’t believe how much Brad had grown since I last saw him.  Our last shoot with Brad was back in 2009. I think he was younger than my own Bradley is now!  We went from seeing an elementary school child, to a high school senior…such a journey.  I’m sure there are many exciting things in store for you in the upcoming year, Brad!  It’s a new chapter in your life, full of new experiences and friends.  We wish you all the best!  Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!  Here is your sneak peek:

It was the big day!  We met Anastasia and Marion as they were preparing for their upcoming nuptials.  The previous night was full of fun (click HERE to see their Pre-Wedding shoot with us), but today was mostly business.  Rain was in the forecast, but there wasn’t a cloud in the sky…it was a gorgeous day!  I was with the women during their pre-wedding preparations. Lots of giggling, lots of fun, and lots of smiles!  Edson was with the men, and he said they were calm, cool and collected…no nerves in sight. We needed a little space to shoot the bride’s detail shots, luckily, one of the bridesmaids came to our rescue and let us use her room (thank you Michelle!):

There were gifts for the bridesmaids (adorable pouches and handcrafted earrings).  The matron of honor even gave each gal a personalized tumbler…such a fun idea!  Who knows what was in those cups  😉  The groom also received a beautiful watch set as a wedding gift from the bride.  Everything about the day was so symbolic!

Everyone hustled down to the lobby, where the Bride and Groom had their “First Look”.  I loved Anastasia’s “attack” approach.  Poor Marion didn’t know what was coming!  They were both stunning.  Just a nod to their day ahead.  After the First Look was over, I took a few more photos of the bride as we waited for the Party Bus…yes, a Party Bus  😉

We rode the Party Bus over to Cafe Julia Hawaii.  It was their last chance to take a deep breath (in air conditioning!), before reaching the ceremony/reception site.

Cafe Julia Hawaii…we made it!  Here’s when things kicked into high gear.  We took some ceremony detail shots. Don’t you love the hand painted envelope box, chalkboard signage, and tags for the chairs…Anastasia, you thought of EVERYTHING!

I took formal photos of the wedding party on the front steps of the venue.  It was a little bright, but everyone was a good sport about it.  They all ran to an air conditioned room as soon as we were done…I didn’t blame them!

Everyone waited anxiously for the ceremony to start:

Then it was showtime!  Anastasia and Marion, what a heart tugging ceremony…complete with lei giving to parents, a special bride-dad handshake, beautiful and inspiring speeches from the officiants (one of them was Marion’s mother!), and an exit to remember.

Once it was over, there was a collective sigh of relief.  It’s official!!!  Anastasia and Marion signed their marriage license, and took formal family photos in front of the pool.  While we took the family photos, guests mingled during cocktail hour, as the venue set up for the reception.  As we entered the cocktail hour room, we were greeted by laughter, story telling, and friends reuniting.  Drinks flowed freely, and pupus were plentiful.  We took some reception detail shots as they were setting up the tables.  The bride made ALL of the centerpieces!  How creative, and amazing is this woman?  The cake was absolutely beautiful, Athena…just gorgeous!

Enter the Bride and Groom for the reception! Their first dance was a joyous one, and family members and friends joined in the latter portion of the dance:

After dinner, the formal program started.  We were treated to a graceful and breathtaking hula (Anastasia said this was one of the highlights of the wedding for her…how sweet!), cake cutting, touching wedding party speeches (some elicited laughter, others brought on the tears), and the toasting (with another special handshake!).

Anastasia and Marion, congratulations!!!  Your wedding night was definitely something that everyone will remember.  You stayed true to your theme of Good Times with Family and Friends, and it was very evident that all of you guests had an amazing evening!  Edson and I wish you all the best in your journey forward.  We were so honored to be part of your special night!

Quite frankly, this was a shoot that I was looking forward to doing for months. When Anastasia told  me that she was willing to get her hair and makeup done (and wear her gorgeous wedding dress) for her pre-wedding shoot, I was thrilled!  When she mentioned the location, I was floored.  Pint + Jigger, thank you so very much for being accommodating…your new speakeasy was absolutely amazing!

Marion and Anastasia, you both looked like you stepped out of a movie.  Anastasia, like your name, you looked like a princess.  Marion…those shoes!  LOVE.  What more is there to say?!  I love that their wedding/pre-wedding theme was, in Anastasia’s words, “Based on something that we both love to do!”  Relaxing and spending time with friends…who could ask for a better combination!  Edson and I brought our studio lights to the location, and did a few test runs before starting the shoot.  Once we started, the time just flew by. For a couple getting married the next day, Anastasia and Marion were incredibly calm 🙂  It was also nice to meet the wedding party before the actual day of the wedding.  You were all so great to work with!  I tried to get “your best sides”  😉

Thank you for an evening of laughter, Anastasia and Marion…I think your pre-wedding photos captured your fun-loving personalities.   More of that to come with your wedding photos!  Here’s your pre-wedding shoot sneak peek:

Welcome, baby Mia!  Thank you for making me an aunt once again  🙂  Mia, you were definitely worth the wait!!!  After a few premature congratulations (thanks to my brother and his dry sense of humor!), we finally welcomed little Mia into the world.  She was tiny, sweet, and oh so cuddly!  Of course we did a cherry blossom themed shoot (click HERE to see my brother and sister-in-law’s cherry blossom themed wedding).  Mia did a great job tolerating all of the props and outfits.  Despite warnings that she didn’t like swaddling, she handled it like a pro!  Mom, you looked gorgeous…I don’t think I would have known that you even had a baby a week ago, if I didn’t know that Mia was born.  I’m so glad you got your malasada after all!  Oh, to look so amazing (I wish I knew your secret).  My brother was a proud dad…I knew you’d be a great father  🙂  So gentle and nurturing.  You never cease to amaze me.

Mia, you are so lucky!  You will be surrounded by all things pink, cute, flowery…and most of all, showered with love.  Congratulations to the both of you!  Mia is a little angel (who is just growing like a weed…I love the photos you are texting to us!). Here’s your sneak peek:

It’s been over a year since we’ve seen Daniel and Dylan, and we couldn’t wait to see them again!  The last time I saw them, Daniel was sitting in a little plastic car for our 2016 Christmas shoot with his family (click HERE to see their previous shoot with us).  He’s grown so much over the past year, I don’t think he fits in that little car anymore!  Dylan also grew (A LOT) since we last saw him.  I loved that he liked to put his hand in his pocket and pose for us.  It was adorable, and made me laugh as I was editing their photos  😉  I loved their happy energy, and eagerness to impress us with their “playground skills”.  It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon (this was another shoot that we had to reschedule a number of times due to bad weather back in December…).  So glad we had some blue sky and dry ground for our shoot this time around, Mom and Dad!  It was great seeing all of you again, and it was a great way to start off our 2018!  Here’s hoping that our next shoot will be equally amazing!  Here’s your sneak peek:

The weekend of our last 2017 shoot gave us the worst weather, EVER! In fact, the entire week was awful…rainy, hazy, overcast.  I had my doubts that we were going to be able to do our shoot that afternoon, because it started raining on our way over.  Fortunately for us, the winds died down, and the showers subsided…just in time for our shoot!  It was meant to be!  The smiles more than compensated for the lack of sun. We couldn’t have asked for an easier group to photograph, especially considering the number of little ones we had that day!  Loved the coordinating attire, and for some reason, I really liked the variation in heights in the group shots.  It made the photos so visually interesting and unique.  I am so glad that we were able to catch all of you on your family vacation to Hawaii (for those of you that came to Hawaii from elsewhere)!  Thank you for spending your afternoon with us, I know you were all quite busy with family time, so we appreciate the opportunity!  We hope you enjoyed your stay here (despite the less than desirable weather).  Thank you for sharing your wonderful families with us!  Here is your sneak peek:

Happy New Year to all of you!  I hope you are all doing well  🙂  We’ve spent the past 6 weeks trying to update our software, backup our 2017 files, and design a new proofing gallery (we are still working on this last one).

What better way to start off the new year, than with Kody and Callie…TWINS!  We did their shoot at the end of 2017, and were so charmed by their happy little faces and energetic poses.  I just wanted to pinch their cheeks while I was processing their sneak peek photos, and their hand/arm motions just made me want to hug them.  The sisters were incredibly interactive, and did such a great job with us.  They were equally adorable, but each their own very distinct personality.  We loved the variety of outfits.  One set of outfits was more “formal”, and the second was “casual”.  The hats…oh, the hats!  One of my absolute favorite photos is the family photos with the hats…mommies and daughters all wearing hats.  So fashionable!  Moms, thank you so much for sharing Callie and Kody with us.  I’m so happy that we are starting off our 2018 blog posts with the girls’ shoot.  It was wonderful meeting all of you!  Here’s your sneak peek:

The boys were so thrilled to show us their backyard!  Alex and Matthew sported huge grins as they swung and twirled for us on their swings.  The large tree that the swings were attached to provided us with some amazing shade and protection from the bright sun.  This was another shoot that we had to reschedule, due to the rainy weather we were experiencing around that time…but we couldn’t have asked for a better day!  It was an afternoon filled with laughter, running, and even riding on a kiddie motorized vehicle (it was literally going 1 mph!).  Thank you for the beautiful artwork as well, Alex and Matthew…the boys painted us a picture, in anticipation of our shoot.  How sweet is that?!  Thanks for sharing your beautiful backyard with us, Mom and Dad!  It was great seeing you again this year  🙂  Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.  Before I post your photos from this past shoot, I included some from our 2016 shoot, so you could see how much the boys have grown in a year!

We finally had a day with decent weather to do our shoot!  We waited, rescheduled, and rescheduled again…so much rain!  It ended up being a beautiful afternoon for Mila’s shoot, and I couldn’t wait to see her again.  Click HERE to see her 2016 shoot with us.  Mom had visions of “field” photos.  We were hoping for landscape with dried grass…which is usually the case in that area.  This time, however, SURPRISE!  We got out of the car and saw a field full of bright green grass.  Thanks a lot, rain!!!  Oh well, we couldn’t change the grass, so we just decided to shoot anyway (besides, when you have a beautiful family, it really doesn’t matter what color the grass is, LOL).  Oh Mila, you are adorable.  She loved Bradley, and kept pointing to him and saying, “Brother!”  Hmm, Mom and Dad…that’s a hint!  Thanks for a great afternoon, Mom and Dad!  I’m so glad it finally stopped raining for us  🙂  Here’s your sneak peek:
